The PSS Shaft Seal is the leading marine mechanical seal worldwide, installed as standard equipment by many reputable boat builders and yards. Recognized as the premier retrofit seal on the market, the PSS Shaft Seal helps eliminate maintenance and costs associated with traditional packing-type glands. It ensures a completely water-tight seal that reduces water in the bilge and minimizes wear on the propeller shaft.

This innovative mechanical face seal is formed between the stainless steel rotor and the stationary carbon flange, allowing for flexibility that compensates for misalignment and vibration. The PSS Shaft Seal is designed for easy retrofitting and is compatible with shafts ranging from 3/4" (20mm) to 6" (150mm).

Maintenance Note: Regular inspections of the bellows are essential to check for signs of wear or chemical deterioration. PYI recommends replacing the PSS bellows every six years. In environments with non-sealed batteries that emit sulfuric acid, more frequent inspections may be necessary due to accelerated rubber deterioration.

The Maintenance Kit includes essential items for maintaining your PSS Shaft Seal: one (1) PSS bellow, two (2) O-rings, five (5) set screws, four (4) new hose clamps, and an allen key. Proper maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity.
