One notable aircraft, White 78, was associated with the Soviet Baltic Fleet Guards Regiment and carried out missions in the early 1940s. As part of the Soviet war effort, the IL-4 was utilized in various theaters and conflicts, contributing to the fight against Axis powers.
• White 78 took to the skies during a crucial period of the war when the Soviet Union was battling German forces on the Eastern Front. The IL-4's long range and capacity to carry a considerable payload made it suitable for conducting bombing raids on enemy positions, supply lines, and industrial centers. It provided support to ground troops, disrupted enemy communication networks, and played a role in weakening the German war machine. The aircraft's durable construction and ability to withstand enemy fire allowed it to participate in daring missions that often involved challenging weather conditions and hostile environments.
